Cumberland Sound Ferry Service

The Cumberland Sound Ferry Service, a passenger/bicycle ferry connecting St. Mary’s, GA, with Fernandina Beach, FL, began operation Aug. 28th. The Ferry operates three to four round trips per day Thursday, Friday and Saturday on a limited schedule (schedule shown below) through the fall and winter of 2008 and then a full schedule in the spring of 2009.

The voyage takes one hour to cross Cumberland Sound and will feature a narrator to explain the region's history, natural features and wildlife. The Ferry slips are located at One North Front Street at the Fernandina Harbor Marina in Historic Downtown Fernandina Beach, FL, and at the Pavilion Dock at the foot of Osborne Street in beautiful downtown St. Mary’s, GA.

The fee will be $15 per person round trip. Tickets can be purchased from our office at One North Front Street in Fernandina Beach, FL. Those coming from Georgia can purchase their tickets when they arrive in Fernandina Beach. The ferry will operate rain or shine, but the schedule may change due to severe weather conditions.
