Note from Prop. Mgr. about Fountains

Please be advised all fountains have been turned off due to low water levels. Michael [Faulk, from Martex] will use this time to perform maintenance but until we get enough rain to bring them back on line safely they will remain off. I have sent a note to Meghan at Heritage to post on the POA website.

CH POA Annual Meeting
The Cumberland Harbour Property Owners Association 2011 annual meeting was held on Sat., Mar 12, at the St. Marys Middle School Auditorium at 1:30.  The consensus among attendees was the meeting went well.  The agenda covered a lot of ground and included comments and/or PowerPoint presentations from Board members Paul Gommo (Pres.), Michelle Deis, Dan Mayer and Helen Ownby and PowerPoint presentations from Design Review Board Chair Joe Gregory and Landscape Committee Chair Dianne Lindsey.

St. Marys City Councilperson Chuck Trader spoke about issues involving the City of St Marys and Cumberland Harbour.  A generous amount of time was given for property owners to ask questions after each agenda item was discussed.

Board President Paul Gommo presented former board member Bernie Huber and recently resigned board member Michelle Deis, with plaques thanking them for their service to the Cumberland Harbour community.  (Michelle submitted her resignation in January, and the March annual meeting was her last official act.)   Harbour Lights reiterates it's prior thank you to Bernie and conveys a big thank you to Michelle Deis for all her service and hard work as a POA board member.  Sam Colville was named as a new POA board member.  The meeting was adjourned at 3:45.

CH "Navy" involved in Causeway & River Cleanups
Photos by S. Lindsey, B. Timberlake & J. Means (scroll down for photos)
Cumberland Harbour residents recently volunteered for trash cleanup duty on two different days in March.

About 16 residents volunteered to pick up litter along the North River Causeway on Fri., Mar. 11. The Causeway cleanup is done quarterly by members of the "Cumberland Harbour Navy," a loose-knit though not quite rag-tag organization of CH residents, owners and friends, who enjoy boating, socializing and occasional volunteering. (The CH Navy has no dues or titles, save the honorary title of "Commodore" for Bill Bruce, the driving force behind the Navy's volunteer efforts.) Sam Colville organized the Mar. 11 Causeway Cleanup.  Former resident, Don Robertson, in town visiting, also helped out.  (Thanks, Don.)

On Sat., Mar. 19, 14 CH residents, led by Brian Timberlake, pulled on fishing boots and marsh waders to pluck debris out of the marshes and river banks surrounding the Point Peter peninsula. The peninsula is bounded by three waterways: The North River, the St. Marys River, and Point Peter Creek. Volunteers were able to fill the beds of two pickup trucks with trash from the waterways.  This effort by CH residents was part of a larger, region-wide St. Marys River Celebration, held every year in March.

A hearty thank you to Sam, Brian, Bill and all those who participated.
