Plum Orchard Outing July 19, 2008
Cumberland Harbour residents enjoyed an outing which featured a tour of the Plum Orchard mansion and grounds on Cumberland Island by CH residents Bernie & Mary Huber. Bernie & Mary have served and continue to serve as U.S. Park Service volunteer caretakers of the Plum Orchard estate, located on U.S. Park Service land within the Cumberland Island National Wilderness Area.
After boating over, residents enjoyed a picnic lunch under the live oaks and a tour of the historic mansion and grounds by Bernie & Mary. It was a great day & thanks to all who worked to make it a success, particulary Rita Bruce, Kay Robertson & Susan Gregory who organized, and the Cumberland Harbour "flotilla" boat captains, who transported everyone to and from Plum Orchard.
